Recent History

First Face-Off

We had a lot of fun at the season’s first hockey game. I hadn’t noticed before but the sight lines are much better the higher you go. Unfortunately we had to see Columbia lose 3-2 in overtime, but up to that moment we enjoyed it. A bunch of us went over to Carolina Wings afterward for food and drink (and ice cream!). Keep your eye on the schedule for future games (another trip to Charlotte?).

Fall Extravaganza

Thank you, Scott for an excellent backpacking trip! He taught me some map reading and fed me Jambalaya out on the trail! The colors were beautiful! He enjoyed watching me fall off a bridge into the muck creek below! He gave me some encouragement by telling me I chose the best bridge to fall off! The others were rocky and running with COLD water! You won’t want to miss out on the trip Nov 5!

Events on Tap

November is here and it's time to give thanks for all the fun we're going to have!  Check out the web site for these and other fantastic events.

Last Camping Trip of the Season

Fri 11/12/2004   5:00PM

Hiking and Hot tubs. Hopefully this will be a decent time to go on the trip. We will be camping at one of the group campsites. Everyone bring wood so we can have a big bonfire. We will do some hiking, shopping and hot tubbing. There is an opportunity to do a little rafting on the French Broad but we will check with the NOC before we plan that. I will come up with a menu so we can plan our food accordingly. See you there.

Day Hike & Climb

Sun 11/14/2004   8:00AM

Let's do this again!! Crowders! Hiking! Rock Climbing. From the Linwood parking area, it's a nice day hike up to the climbing area and back down. You don't need to know how to climb. We will teach you. Bring water, lunch and snack. Also, something warm (jacket) in case it cools down while we are there. At RSVP, post hiking &/or climbing and if your want to carpool or meet us there. I will send directions. Make sure you print them off to have with you.

Vista Lights

Thu 11/18/2004   5:30PM

Each fall for seventeen years Columbia, SC's Vista area has opened its doors and welcomed the surrounding communities to stroll its sidewalks and experience the magic of Vista Lights. Most merchants in the Vista, lit by over 1500 luminaries, will be opened late for this annual event. Vista Lights offers a glowing opportunity for people to stroll through art galleries, bars and restaurants, shops and showrooms. Strolling musicians herald the fast approaching winter holidays and dancing bonbons gather to light the festive tree. Many galleries will be having special visual and performance artists on hand to add to the occasion. This is a free event and is fun for everyone. The Vista Guild will be selling collectable buttons for a one dollar donation.

Bowling

Sun 12/5/2004   1:00PM

Let's bowl! If I remember, on Sunday if you are there by 1:30, it's a $1/game.

Nightmare Before Xmas

Sat 12/11/2004   7:00PM

Who wants to go to another stuffy old holiday party? Aren't you sick of them by now? Well we're going to counter all that by having a party! Break out that Halloween costume and join the other "spirits in the night" for food, merriment, and Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" classic flick. It may be BYOB, but we'll have a haunting good time!

3rd annual New Year's Eve Celebration

Fri 12/31/2004   1:00AM

This will be the 3rd year we have celebrated New year's eve at the Capital City Club. The cost includes Dinner, the Party afterwards with a cash bar, and champagne at midnight.
